The City of Ellensburg and Shape Up are teaming up to complete a pilot project from the newly adopted Non Motorized Transportation Plan. The plan's recommendation is to place sharrow markings on 5th Avenue from Chestnut Street to Pacific Street. Fifth Avenue does not have enough right of way to place a dedicated bike lane but is identified as a bike route in the City of Ellensburg. The hope is that motorists will be more aware of bicyclists on the roadway and the bicyclists will feel more comfortable sharing the road with cars.
